Charley Patton was born on May 1, 1891 in Bolton, Mississippi, USA. He was married to Bertha Lee. He died on April 28, 1934 in Indianola, Mississippi.

Legendary blues musician. He gets guitar lessons from Earl Harris of Cleveland, and learns "You Take My Woman and Maggie." He used the back of his guitar for a drum. Long before Jimi Hendrix he was the "entertainer's entertainer", with dazzling showmanship, often playing the guitar on his knees and behind his head, as well as behind his back. Many blues artists were inspired by him, including Robert Johnson , Son House and Muddy Waters .
